What is the Air Space Map of India?

With the popularity of drones taking of, India saw the development of airspace map for drones contoured with red, yellow and green zones by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The drone airspace map highlights the demarcated no-fly zones ensuring the safety of other infrastructures based on certain Drone Laws that have been drafted based on “trust, self certification and non intrusive monitoring”.

The Zones:
Green Zone Yellow Zone Red Zone
The air space upto 400 feet that has not been designated as red or yellow zone, and up to 200 feet above the area located between 8-12 km from the perimeter of an operational airport. The airspace above 400 feet in a designated green zone and above 200 feet in the area located between 8-12 km from the perimeter of an airport, and above ground in the area located between 5-8 km from the perimeter of an airport. The no drone zone within which drones can be operated only after a permission from the central government.
No permission is required for operating drones with an all up weight of up to 500 kgf. Permission is required from the concerned air traffic control authorities which could be either the Airports Authority of India, the Indian Air Force, the Indian Navy, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, etcetera as the case may be.                      –

The airspace map was designed by MapMyIndia and IT services company- Happiest Minds and is put on the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) digital sky platform.

How to check the airspace map of India?

The airspace map of India is available on the digital sky platform of DGCA (https://digitalsky.dgca.gov.in/home) and the Center conveys that it may be (and it is) modified and updated by established organizations from time and again.
